Design a learning hub where a beginner books an instructor and follows a focused weekly instrument practice plan.

Responsive web, Tablet2 to 4 hours

The brief

Understand the problem

Background

Music students need technique guidance and useful practice structure, but generic video courses cannot see posture or adapt to goals. Instructor marketplaces also need clear experience, instrument, accessibility, and cancellation details.

User context

Eli is an adult beginner learning acoustic guitar. He wants a teacher comfortable with left-handed students and a twenty-minute daily practice plan.

Product problem

Learners need to connect a suitable instructor with manageable independent practice and feedback that does not become a performance score.

Objective

Design instructor discovery, trial lesson booking, weekly practice, and feedback review for one beginner instrument.

What to design

Define the experience

Required experience

  • Choose instrument, level, goals, access needs, and schedule
  • Compare instructor fit and book a trial
  • Follow a timed practice plan with reference media
  • Review instructor feedback and revise the plan

Screens and states

  • Learning setup
  • Instructor detail
  • Practice session
  • Feedback and weekly plan

Core user flow

Follow the critical path

  1. 01

Eli sets guitar, beginner level, and left-handed instruction

  2. 02

He books a trial with an instructor after viewing a captioned introduction

  3. 03

His first practice balances tuning, chord changes, and rest

  4. 04

The instructor updates one exercise after reviewing his notes

Product rules

Requirements and constraints

Requirements

  • Filter instructors by instrument, style, level, access, time, and price
  • Make trial, package, cancellation, and equipment terms clear
  • Support visual, written, and audio practice references
  • Keep recordings optional with explicit sharing controls

Constraints

  • The platform cannot promise a fixed mastery date
  • Practice reminders need quiet-hour controls
  • Hearing safety guidance must appear where amplification is involved

Reality check

States worth considering

The instrument is out of tune
The learner cannot record audio
An instructor reschedules
Pain or strain is reported

Finish line

What to deliver

  • Four responsive screens spanning teacher selection and weekly practice

Optional direction

Visual resources

Use these as a starting constraint if you want one. They are not part of the required solution.
